Heating and Air Conditioning

Quick Fixes For Your AC

During the hot summer months it’s easy to feel tired and exhausted. It’s amazing how quickly the heat can suck energy out of you until all you want to do is take a nap. That’s why people rely so heavily on their air conditioning units. So when your A/C stops working or starts to blow nothing but hot air, many people switch into panic mode. Although, it may be necessary to call in an air conditioning professional to fix the problem, there are a few quick fixes you can check before you make the call.

If you turn on the air conditioner and it starts to blow out warm air, the first thing you should check is the air filter. Your unit has a filter designed to trap dust and dirt from the air so that it doesn’t blow into your home and unit. It’s important that you change your filter every so often. Experts suggest at least every three to six months. Take a look at the state of the filter. If it’s caked with dust and dirt, it’s time for a switch as soon as possible. If your filter is in good shape, check the circuit breakers. Make sure no breakers have been tripped. Once you’ve done that and haven’t found a problem, it’s time to go outside and check your outdoor unit. Make sure that the unit is free and clear of any debris that could be obstructing the unit and causing it to function inefficiently and improperly. Once you’ve checked these simple fixes and the problem hasn’t been solved, it’s probably time to call your air conditioning professional.
